Our First Post

We have been seeing a lot of hawks lately. This one said hello to Lance while he was taking pictures at the D'Arcy Golf Course near Calgary, Alberta.

Lance always asks if he can take its picture -- may be why he gets so many! This one must have thought it was okay because he posed for quite a while.

We are currently in Creston, BC staying at the Pair-A-Dice RV Park. These friendly dice greeted us as we arrived.

Creston is considered to be in the Kootenay area of southwestern British Columbia. It has what is called the Kootenay Trail of eight golf courses that Lance will be photographing. There are two here in Creston and the other six are in the Castlegar area. We will head there on 9/18 and stay for two weeks. Then back to Tacoma 10/8 to 10/18/08 and south for the winter.

Calgary was good except the RV park there was a little run down and whenever it rained the roads would turn into mud. Glad to be out of there. We took a three day trip to Edmonton rather than a few weeks. The $5.50 a gallon diesel and $30 a night RV parks were stretching our budget real tight. Plus, they are already getting temperatures dipping to freezing during the night. I am ready for Southern California or Arizona and some warm sunshine to warm my bones.

One day when we were in Calgary, we drove up to the bad lands in the Drumheller area. This is a church we found along the way. The sign says Drumheller's Little Church seating 10,000 people-6 at a time. It was built in 1968 -- why does that seem like so long ago?

Here I am driving to Jaffray, our stop before Creston. I sure look small behind that wheel. I enjoy driving. I encourage everyone to learn how. Lance was not feeling well one day and it was nice to know I could take over and he could just sit in the passenger seat with the footrest up. He and I are both happy about taking the driving class. He is comfortable with my driving.
